About Me

A little bit about Dan Behrens. I'm somewhere between forty and fifty. I'm married. I have three beautiful children. I currently live in relatively small-town western Washington. And I enjoy writing. I enjoy the "grind" of writing. I enjoy the unique challenge of writing a little to say a lot. Whether I'm any good at it is still up for grabs.

For eighteen years I co-pastored a church of about 80-90 persons. I served as ministry director, program facilitator, lead administrator, finance officer, resource coordinator, and even preached a dozen times a year. What I am most grateful for is having ministered to people in the most practical ways that my energies would allow, advocating for God's best in their lives regardless of what they'd previously endured.

In late 2022 I stepped away from formal ministry to better tend to my own health and well-being and that of my family. Part of that process is expressed here through writing: poems, essays, articles, songs, sermons and blogposts that either I have written or someone I admire has written. In either case, all of these have helped shape my attitude toward God, his presence in my life, his activity in the world, and the overall craft of communicating. I hope you enjoy.

Presently, I work in emergency management and logistics for Washington State Department of Natural Resources wildfire response. Besides this, I enjoy being with my family, working in the yard, hiking, skiing, golf, and watching a decent streaming series. If you like what you find here, you can also follow me on social media. And be sure to subscribe to receive future releases.
